A lot of us tend to think that if we just had more time or better time management, then we would be more productive.
Though I think time management is important, as is prioritizing and planning, I also believe there is another key component to the picture: taking care of our health.
We may not feel like taking the time to take care of ourselves (I know I have a hard time with it) but it can end up being the best thing we do. Because when we take care of our own health, we are better able to take care of others.
So here are some healthy habits to start:
Get adequate sleep
Sleep does wonders for a better day. When you’re well-rested, everything seems to function better. Further, you won’t be as dependent on caffeine to get through your day if you wake up feeling rested.

Eat better foods
As much as we all hate to admit it, what we eat makes a big difference in how we feel. If we eat crap, we will usually end up feeling like crap. But if we eat more wholesome foods without additives and preservatives, we end up with more energy.
Exercise more
Even though it can be difficult to find the motivation to exercise, it can actually give you more energy to get through the rest of your day.
Keep a journal
This one is not for your physical health, but your mental health. Keeping things bottled up can add stress in my experience. So keeping a journal just to get your thoughts processed can help your mind feel a lot less cluttered.
Make a plan
In my opinion and experience, having a plan in place leads to much smoother days. That being said, flexibility is needed too because a lot of days don’t go as planned. But with a plan in place, you’ll have a clear picture of your goals for the day and week ahead.

I just did a Whole30, and I can’t believe how much better I felt. I was way more productive after I got into the habit of eating better foods.
Great tips. Sleep is what I need more of but who doesn’t? Someday when my kids are older, I will get it.
I recently started running regularly to prepare for a 5K, and I have been amazed at the amount of energy I have had. Now I even look forward to the run because it gives me time to think away from distractions. Great tips!
