Today I thought I’d share some things I’ve been trying or working on in order to be a little more organized and productive. Our daily needs shift pretty often these days with 2 little kids so I like trying out different things to make our days a little easier.

These are some things I’ve been trying or working on in order to be a little more organized and productive.

Things I’m trying and stopping to be more organized

A Solid Schedule

We’ve always had a pretty loose routine, but we’re in a season where it would be beneficial for my children to tighten it up a little. So I’m working on our routine / schedule to be a little more solid but still plenty flexible.

This will allow us to make sure we fit some priorities into our day – doing some school time with my preschooler, having some work time set aside, and time for outside play, reading, art, and more.

Building Community

One of my goals is to start fostering more of a sense of community in different areas of my life. As an introvert, it’s often tempting to stay in my own little bubble. But we’re called to be in community with others.

To do this, I’m getting more involved in my local MOPS group, looking into homeschool opportunities locally, and finally finding a church home in our new town.

So how does that help with organization and productivity? Because it’s important to take breaks from the daily routine, especially with a supportive group that may even be in the same season of life you are in.

Cleaning Hacks

I’m all for saving as much time as possible while cleaning. I’ve always liked cleaning wipes but I wanted an option that was more natural and eco-friendly. So I made my own re-usable wipes with a $3 package of washcloths, a large tupperware container, and On Guard cleaner concentrate (from doTERRA).

I squeeze just a little cleaner concentrate on the bottom of the container, fill about ⅓ with water, then add the washcloths. After I put the lid on I usually turn the container upside down so the cleaning solution can soak through all the towels better. After a few minutes, they’re ready to go!

This has made it easier to clean – especially in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Organizing Baskets

It was time to do some organizing around our house, so I made a trip to the Dollar Tree and bought a bunch of baskets. I used them to: organize the pantry, organize my older son’s clothes (in a large closet instead of having a dresser) and to better organize toys, especially since we have both baby toys and older kid toys right now.

Though it’s important to declutter, it’s also ok to get some more baskets so everything has a home.

Social Media Scrolling

Now for something I’m doing my best to stop doing so much – social media scrolling! This can be so hard, these companies know how to keep our attention and they do it well. But I want to focus more on what’s in front of me. I know I’m so much more productive and feel so much better when I put my phone down.

There you have it – four things that have been helpful lately and one thing that has NOT – therefore I’m avoiding it. What have you found useful for your organization and productivity lately? What’s something you need to avoid? Let me know in the comments!
