This Apple Pie is my dad’s favorite dessert!
Ingredients:
- Pie crust (I use Pillsbury.. I don’t make my own)
- 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg (optional.. I prefer to use a little extra cinnamon instead)
Heat oven to 400. In large bowl combine all ingredients except apples, and mix.
Add apples and toss to coat.
Spoon into prepared pie crust.
Add top crust and cut slits in top crust. {Yes, I know I won’t win any blue ribbons for prettiest pie.. but it’s the taste that counts, right? 🙂 }
Cover edge of crust with 2 inch strips of aluminum foil. Bake for 35 minutes, remove foil and continue baking for 10 to 20 min or until crust is lightly browned.
This is my hubbies fave!! I brush the top with cream and then sprinkle with sugar!
Also, I always use lard for the crust, makes them VERY flakey!!!
