This recipe is a family favorite that my mom has been making ever since I can remember! It is great for brunch and pairs nicely with a Breakfast Casserole.
Ingredients:
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 1 can apple pie filling
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
Directions:
Blend the apple pie filling in a large bowl to break up the apple.
Add cake mix and eggs, blend well.
Pour mixture in greased 9×13 pan.
In another bowl, melt butter and mix in flour and brown sugar until smooth.
Spoon brown sugar mixture on top of cake batter.
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes, or until edges are slightly brown.
We like to take the cake out about halfway through the baking time and sprinkle some extra brown sugar on top too!
Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!

Across the board, my family loves apple cake. But I’ve never made one with your brown sugar filling, and i’ve never made a cake with pancake mix! What a unique recipe. Thanks for sharing!
