You see it all the time – women who are stressed, frazzled, and completely overwhelmed. In fact, that could be you.
I’ve seen articles about how balance in life isn’t possible, but I would have to disagree.
I believe it IS possible.
So what does balance really look like?
My definition of balance is living into your priorities, working towards your goals, and enjoying life while having time for what really matters.
Balance is going to look different for everyone.
And for each person, it’s going to look different for varying seasons of life. And that’s ok.
Balance is about not overloading yourself so you can actually take care of yourself and your family.
It’s about being ok with progress that is slow and steady so you have margin time to laugh and love with the people who mean the most to you.
Balance is about living a life that is low on stress and big in love.
And no, it’s not going to look picture perfect 24/7. Things are going to come up. Times might become hard. But with a balanced life you’ll have the margin time built in to deal with those things that pop up unexpectedly. And in the midst of it all you can savor the life you’ve been given.
We only have one chance here on earth, friends.
Why are we wasting the precious time we’ve been given on stress and overwhelm?
Those things are never going to be completely eliminated. But we CAN take steps to make it happen less often. Let’s get real for a second. A lot of stress we bring on ourselves. I know I do it. And I bet you do too.
So take a long, hard look at your schedule. What can you eliminate and adjust to give yourself that extra space to breathe and to find balance? Take just one itty bitty baby step today to ease yourself of some stress.
Balanced living is a journey – one that will last your entire life. But the goal is to be able to enjoy that journey. One sweet moment at a time.

I feel like it’s getting harder than ever to truly strike a balance between all the hats we wear as moms! I am a goal-oriented kind of person, and find myself pushing through to accomplish things no matter what the cost to my own well being sometimes. I want it done, and I want it done yesterday, so your tip abut working at goals slow and steady really resonated with me. Thank you for reminding me to take a step back, enjoy all the fruits of my labor, and be okay with a little down time now and again!
Aw I’m so glad you found a tip that resonated with you! I’m a very goal oriented person too and it’s hard to go slow and steady sometimes. But every little bit of progress counts! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I totally agree, how it is good to evaluate your week, and take out any unnecessary fluff. Sometimes we are so busy it is no wonder we are stressed. But if we focus on quality instead of quantity all the time, we are heading in the right direction.
Absolutely! Quality pretty much always trumps quantity. Thanks for stopping by!
I am older – middle aged – but still find it’s hard to find a balance. Once of the things that keeps me sane is making sure that I take time for ME – it’s okay to say that and do that – even when your kids are small! thanks
You’re so right! It is a journey and one to be enjoyed!
I hope you can stop by:
