This homemade vanilla cake is easy to throw together with ingredients you probably have on hand. It turns into a rich, dense cake that makes a decadent dessert! I love it paired with chocolate cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients:
- 1 c flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 c + 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Butter or spray an 8-inch cake pan.
Cream sugar & butter. Add milk, egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
Add dry ingredients and mix until combined.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes until it is golden brown.
Frost, slice, and enjoy!

Yes, it’s nice to have a quick cake recipe handy! This makes an 8 or 9 inch pan recipe.. I like to have a smaller recipe handy for those time where you want to make a dessert, but not have a ton of leftovers. Thanks for stopping by!
