As much as I love pretty baskets, I’ve decided to do most of my organizing with clear plastic containers. While this might seem bland and boring, there are several reasons I’ve found why this methods works better for me.
1. You have to open the lid to put it away in the proper place. With baskets, it’s just too easy to throw something in a basket that it doesn’t belong in.
2. You can see what is inside – I like the clear plastic that I can tell what the box contains with just a glance. However, I also label these containers.
3. They are stack-able – this way I can fit more into valuable shelf space.
What methods are you using to get organized in 2014?
I use a lot of those plastic bins. I especially like the transparent ones, it makes it easier to see where things go. Right now we are decluttering and organizing our way through the house. I’m trying to utilize containers we have already, which is a fun challenge.

Hi Laura, I agree with all three points and that’s why I use clear plastic bins with lids. I found some good ones at walmart. They”re meant for files but I use them for storing just about anything. I like the size and they don’t have those sloping sides like some bins. They just look so neatand tidy all stacked together.

I use the same containers in several closets. They are cheap and convenient and stack able just like you said. And who sees them? I keep my closet doors shut most of the time anyway. I priced baskets for underbed storage, because it can be a little more viable and woah! Too rich for my blood!

I use plastic shoe boxes for toiletries, office supplies and items like screws, nails, adhesives and various other hardware items. I then use my label maker to label each box. These boxes are stacked and kept in the closet.

Yes, YES, YES!! I use clear plastic containers to organize EVERYTHING, from school supplies, to toys, to craft supplies. Clear plastic tubs are my container of choice for the exact reasons you mentioned. Thanks for linking to Family Fun Friday.
