Have you ever felt like you’re juggling a million things at once and wish you had a clear vision of where you’re headed? That’s where vision boards come in! In this guide, we’ll explore how to create a vision board that not only reflects your dreams but also inspires you to take action. Let’s get started!
Think through your vision
First of all, think through your vision. I do this by thinking of the categories in life that are important to me – such as family, health, business, etc. – and then where I want to be in those areas in 2, 5, 10 years or however long I’m making the vision.
Write down your vision
I think it’s important to have a written vision that goes with your vision board. A simple notebook page or Google Doc works just fine. Writing it out not only cements it in your mind but it gives you a clearer picture of the future you want than using pictures alone.
Decide on your vision board medium
Next up is choosing the medium for your vision board. Are you going digital or paper? Both have their perks, so go with what feels right for you.
Digital Vision Board: Perfect if you love using apps and online tools. It’s easy to update and you can access it anytime, anywhere. My personal preference is using Canva to create a digital vision board I can download and display.
Paper Vision Board: Great for those who enjoy the tactile experience of cutting and pasting. It’s a fun, creative process that can be a family activity.
Find Elements for Your Vision Board
Now for the fun part—gathering the elements for your vision board! Think of it like a treasure hunt where you’re searching for images, quotes, and symbols that resonate with your vision. Magazines, Pinterest, and even your own photos are great places to start.
I also like to just search for photos inside of Canva that align with my vision.
Display to remember as you set goals
Once your vision board is complete, it’s time to display it! Find a spot where you’ll see it every day—your office, the fridge, or even as your phone wallpaper. The key is to keep your vision front and center as you set and work towards your goals.
Your vision board is more than just a collection of pretty pictures—it’s your personal map to the future you desire. By taking the time to dream, write, and create, you’ve set the stage for a life filled with purpose and joy. Keep your vision board in sight, let it guide you, and watch as those dreams transform into reality. You’ve got this!
