Every once in a while, we have to do the inevitable – deep clean our home. Wondering where to even start? Today I’m sharing how to make a deep cleaning plan.

Learn my process on how to make a deep cleaning plan to get your house nice and refreshed for a new season.

Step 1: Brain Dump and Schedule

The first step to take is to do a brain dump of all that you’d like to get done for your deep cleaning. And this doesn’t just have to be in your home. This can be for your schedule or really anything for that matter. It doesn’t have to be a particular seasonal clean like “Spring Cleaning” either. This deep cleaning plan is for whenever works best for you. 

If spring is a super busy time, do a summer cleaning plan for deep cleaning. If fall would work better, do it then. I’m all about helping you create the plan that works for you and your life. 

Step 2: Look up Suggestions

Next, I always like to look at some suggestions to make sure I’m not forgetting anything. Here are some deep cleaning suggestions I’ve found.

Step 3: Prioritize Tasks

And after that, I want you to prioritize those tasks. This way you aren’t going to be so hard on yourself if everything doesn’t get done right now in the time you have. 

So I want you to split your list up into 3 lists – must get done, should probably get done, and would like to get done.

After you have those three lists now all nicely prioritized, think about your timeline. 

Step 4: Make a Timeline

When is this deep cleaning project going to take place? Do you just have a week to get it done or do you have a month to get it done? Or do you really have all summer to work on this? 

So what after your timeline looks like we are then going to split it up and put it on your schedule. 

If you’ve got just a week, you may do two to three tasks a day. If you’ve got all summer, you may just do a couple per week. And if you’re right in between, if you have around a month, then you want to get it done about one per day should do it. But it all really depends on how many items are on your list and what your highest priorities look like.

Step 5: Start Cleaning!

After you have your timeline mapped out, it’s time to implement! Make sure you have time set aside in your days for this deep cleaning project. You may even want to set a reminder on your phone. 

So just to recap, as you’re creating your deep cleaning plan, first, you want to brain dump, then you want to review some suggestions, then split your list into a prioritized list of must get done, should probably get done, and would like to get done.
