Are you looking for a digital organizing tool and wondering if Notion could be right for you? I’m sharing how I use Notion to organize my entire life from my home to my business.
Even though I love my paper planner, I’ve always found it helpful to have a digital solution as well. Especially in my current season of having a baby and a preschooler, being able to quickly pull something up from my phone has been super helpful.
I’ve tried several digital solutions over the years, but never stuck to one long-term. I’ve been using Notion for a few months now and I think this is one I will be using for the long haul. So I wanted to share more about Notion and how busy moms like me can use it to get and stay organized.
What is Notion?
Notion is an app that you can use on your computer or your phone that pretty much helps you manage and organize any area of your life. It is a combination of many other apps that you may already be familiar with such as Trello, Evernote, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and more.
It is basically a combination of many different apps and functionalities to keep track of things, make lists, spreadsheets, notes and more.
How does Notion work?
Notion works like many other similar apps, you may be familiar with. It is pretty easy to figure out. I know I don’t take advantage of half of the functionality. What I do use it for works for me right now and it is nice to know that it can be pretty much as simple or as complicated as you’d like it to be.
In Notion you can create pages (and pages within pages), spreadsheets, to-do lists, kanban boards (like Trello), calendars, timelines, galleries, and more.
What do you use Notion for?
I use Notion to keep track of my goals, my daily to do’s, and menu plan. I also use Notion to keep track of milestones and funny quotes my kids say.
For my business, I use it to break down projects and to plan out content. I also keep track of notes and strategy. I am finding more and more uses for it all the time.
Will Notion work for moms?
Notion will absolutely work for moms wanting to get organized. It is a great digital planner and even though I use a physical planner as well because I do like to write things down.
I’ve been using the digital side of planning more and more since I have a preschooler and a baby. Sometimes it’s easier to just grab my phone and type something into my to-do list then trying to find a pen and my planner and a free hand to write all at once!
So moms can use it for many different things. You can keep track of projects, your home or things for your kids. You can create a menu plan, cleaning schedule, calendar of events, a note with kids’ milestones, and so much more. There are so many uses you can do with it and keep everything in the same place. That is my favorite part of Notion – I don’t have to switch between apps. I don’t have to have a board on Trello for something and a note in Evernote for something else. I love that I can use Notion for it all.
So for my work at home mom set up in Notion I have my business section that has my current projects, my content plan, notes, strategy, content ideas, and I’m still figuring out more and more that I can do with it.
As for my personal setup, I have a reading list, menu plan, cleaning list and the notes for my kids that I mentioned before.
One of my other favorite uses for Notion is my journal section. I can make a note each day from a Bible verse that stood out for me, a gratitude list and a prayer requests that I want to pray through each day. It has really helped me stay more consistent with my quiet time and I love having a place to follow my quiet time journey, see answered prayers and have a daily gratitude practice all in one place.
How do I get started with Notion?
It’s easy to get started and it’s totally free as well. There are paid plans which allow you more storage and more teamwork options if you’re running a business with more than one member. But so far I have gotten by just fine on the free plan. So go here to get started and sign up for your free account.
I also recommend looking at inspiration on YouTube to get an idea of how you want your notion setup and what would work for you.
Alright, let me know if you have any questions and what you think of Notion. Are you going to try it out or stick with what you’ve used before?
