This week I spent $20 less than usual at the grocery store! Woo-hoo!

What has been helping is paying attention to sales, price matching, couponing, and freezer cooking (which I’ll talk more about in a minute..)

I don’t use a whole lot of coupons, but look for ones on things that I need. I love the coupon database on moneysavingmom.com! I have been able to find yogurt coupons, and got a $1 off some ice cream, which was a nice treat! I was able to buy a premium Blue Bunny ice cream for the same price as a container of store brand. (For the Record, I picked out Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream and Oh. My. Goodness. It is amazing!!)

I price matched soda so hubby and I can get our daily caffeine fixes. Only saved $1 this way, but, hey, every little bit helps!

Ok, now on to Freezer Cooking!

I just started this 2 weeks ago and already have rolls, muffins, and pizza pockets stocked in my freezer. This idea is inspired by Moneysavingmom.com and the “4 Weeks to fill your Freezer” series. The pizza pockets I just made this past Sunday. They are great to have on hand for a quick meal. Plus, they’re super easy for hubby to heat up. (His kitchen skills are mostly limited to the microwave. And scrambled eggs. He can usually handle that.)

The recipe for the freezer rolls are from blissfulanddomestic.com. They are super easy and yummy!

Also, on the freezer cooking note, when I found a big pack of chicken breasts on sale, I split into 3 freezer bags and put in the freezer for different meals. It has been a lifesaver! We have had cream of mushroom chicken and barbeque chicken so far! Futhermore, when I bought supplies for the pizza pockets, I bought 2 pounds of hamburger when it only calls for one. I cooked it all and put half away in the freezer for another time! I know this will definitely come in handy!

That’s all for now, but I’m super excited about how great the freezer cooking and grocery savings are working out! I’ll keep you updated on how things go each week!
