Something I’ve tried to start doing lately is making my own greeting cards. It’s a lot of fun and a meaningful way to send your message. Below is an easy way I go about making cards. They don’t have to be fancy. I usually just use scrapbook paper, adhesive, markers, scissors, and sometimes some stamps or stickers.
Here is a tutorial on my go-to method of making homemade cards:
I start out with a square piece of card stock scrapbook paper. I fold it in half, then cut it down to size.
Next, I take another color of card stock scrapbook paper and cut it to display somewhere on the front of the card. I usually use either a glue stick or double sided tape to adhere it to the front of the card. (Note: wait until after you’ve stamped or written on the small piece of paper before you adhere it to the front. I forgot this step, so when I messed up the stamp I had to tear the paper off and redo it!)
I like to use some scallop scissors to make the edges cute 🙂
Then I usually write or stamp the front with a message like, “Happy Birthday,” “Thinking of You,” etc. On this one, I used a birthday stamp I have that says “Make a Wish!”
Sometimes I decorate the inside of the card, but usually I leave it blank for a handwritten message.
You can keep it simple, or add lots of embellishments. There are so many ways to customize each card and make them unique.
One way I like to customize is to use the recipient’s favorite color for the paper. The possibilities are endless.
So, if you have some scrap-booking supplies and a few spare minutes, you too can make simple and cute homemade cards for your loved ones!
You know – I’ve scrapbooked for years and I’ve made printable cards but I’ve never tried making my own homemade cards . . . I guess I’ll have to give it a try!
Hope you have a chance to give it a try and enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!
Making homemade cards is a great idea to save money! I always get sick when I look at buying them at the store and think of how much it costs just for something most people will end up throwing away! It also takes the thoughtfulness up a notch when it is homemade.
It’s definitely a great way to save some money and make cards a bit more meaningful! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I love simple cards!
Great cards! I love to papercraft, too.
I found you through Craft-o-maniac today. I hope you get a chance to stop by my blog and leave a comment, too.
