Sometimes YOU are your biggest obstacle.
Are you plagued by negative self talk and somewhat pessimistic view? It’s ok. Many of us experience that at one time or another.
But I’m learning more and more how mindset is foundational for living your best life.
We aren’t meant to lie to ourselves. The Bible is full of God’s promises that speak the truth into our lives. Here are just a few..
- God gives us the gift of peace (John 14:27)
- God will supply our needs (Philippians 4:19)
- God will give us wisdom (Proverbs 3:5-7)
- Eternal life through Jesus (John 3:16)
I hope I’ve convinced you that a positive mindset will do wonders in your life. If you’re ready to make a change, here are some ways to start adjusting your thoughts:
Be around positive people & influences
Are there some people you know who always lift you up? Focus on those relationships.
Are there books you love that always seem to uplift and encourage you? Make those your go-to resources.
Stay away from negative influences
What tends to start your negative thought patterns? Are there certain TV shows, books, or people whose negatively seems to affect you?
I’m trying to stay away from those. I know for me too many online news articles seems to affect my thoughts and then actions. That doesn’t mean I don’t stay up to date on current events, but it does mean I limit my access to it so I can keep my thoughts more positive and my actions productive.
Recognize when your thoughts turn negative
When we realize we’re heading down a path of negativity, let’s turn around instead of staying on that road. Half of the battle is simply recognition. Then making a conscious choice to turn around – talk to a positive, encouraging friend, read scripture or an uplifting book.
By turning negative thought patterns into a more positive outlook will help you work towards your goals and live into your God-given purpose in life.
When we remember God’s promises of peace, wisdom, and eternal life and watch our influences, and turn negative thoughts around, it builds a strong mental foundation that will help us throughout our entire lives.

I really enjoyed this. It definitely starts with mindset. We have to declutter our mind before we declutter our space.
It’s so important to do this, thanks for a great article. I’ve recently stopped watching and reading the news and instead just reading the headlines – it’s made such a difference.
