The last few weeks I have slowly began my attempt in lowering our grocery bill. Let’s just say that for two people, it should be less than it is.
I decided to start slow and try to increase my savings each week.
Our weekly grocery errands usually include Aldi and Wal-Mart. I would eventually like to only have to go every other week, but that’s a whole different adventure.
One step at a time! For my first step, I started going through the weekly ads and price matching at Walmart. I did this for two weeks in a row and was able to find some good
deals on our every day items. I love that Wal-Mart will price match. I’d really hate driving all over town just to get the best price on certain items.
My second step started this week – Coupons! Between cutting coupons from inserts and printing out others, I was able to save an additional $6.50 from coupons after I price
matched a few items as well. One of my favorite coupons was $1 off 8 Yoplait yogurts – these are an essantial part of my breakfast, so roughly 12 cents off per container was
pretty exciting!
Next week my goal is to increase my coupon savings. Now that we have a working printer, I can get more from online and not just cut them out of newspaper inserts.
One of my favorite sites to find coupons and money saving ideas is: moneysavingmom.com. It’s really a neat website.
Anyway, I will update more as I keep trying to lower the grocery bill!
I would love to save money on our grocery bill! It is me and my husband also, and our grocery bill is higher than it could be also. We usually end up going to the grocery store several times a week, instead of once a week. I have never price match at Walmart… I am afraid I will hold up the line. Crazy, right? I do use coupons though, but there are not many coupons for the things I buy. I don’t buy anything in a box or can. From time to time I will buy soups in a can and of course some cookies.
I do use a lot of coupons for household product and personal care products though. I would love to see more of your ideas for saving money. I will be back!
