- Nail the lid under the cabinet and screw the jar on to store dry goods in the kitchen or hardware in the garage.
- Use small jars, such as baby food jars, to store things like buttons, beads, nails, screws, etc.
- Have a jar set aside to store all the random things you find lying around the house until you find their home.
- You can also use small jars to store seasonings and herbs. Decorate them in a fun way to add some flair to your kitchen!
- A jar also makes an adorable holder for kitchen supplies such as cocoa, sugar, etc. Just make sure the jar is completely sterilized before you re-purpose it in this manner!
- Fill the jar with candy for a cute gift!
I found a lot of these great ideas in: “The One-Minute Organizer A to Z Storage Solutions” by Donna Smallin.
Now, the empty jars will be a lot more fun if they’re decorated, right? Here are a few ways to add some fun to your old jars:
- Etched glass paint – This gives your jars a “frosted” look. You can have a lot of fun with using stencils with this paint, too.
- Chalkboards paint – then you can add cute messages to your jars!
- Scrapbook paper – Get out your glue gun and add some paper to your jars to give them a whole new look!
How do you re-use your glass jars? I’d love to hear your ideas!
