Case Study: Rapid List Growth

When I was a few years into my blogging career, I created a lead magnet that exploded my email list.

It was a pretty simple checklist to help people declutter their homes. I had probably a few hundred people on my email list before this point, and in several months’ time it had grown past 7k.

So why did this work so well?

First of all, the lead magnet was a usable, printable resource that met a need and could be used over and over again.

I created several blog posts related to the topic (decluttering) and promoted the lead magnet on all of the posts.

To promote the lead magnet, I also pinned the direct link, along with all the related blog posts. Furthermore, I set up automatic 2x monthly shares of the lead magnet across my social media platforms.

That email list is still a huge asset in my business that drives the majority of my income and allows me to connect with my audience.

Case Study: Funnel with High Converting Tripwire

A funnel is one of the most important systems to create in your business because it automates the sales process while still making a connection and providing value to your customers.

To start a funnel, I always suggest working backward. To make the funnel work, you need to at least have an idea of what you’d like your core offer to be. That way, you can make an effective path for your customers to follow that leads to it.

For this funnel with a high converting tripwire I knew that the core offer was a membership for home organization and systems. The lead magnet was a high-level overview of the process used in the core offer. So for the tripwire, I put together a bundle of resources on time management – this is something that is somewhat related but will help the customer accomplish what they want easier and faster.

Note: A “Tripwire” is a name for the introductory product often offered on the “Thank you” page when you sign up for a lead magnet.

Other things that contributed to the high conversion rate included a pretty sales page with high quality graphics and a fast loading time.

Also incredibly important is the email sequence after someone signs up for the lead magnet. It offers valuable information, another chance to purchase the tripwire, and then eventually leads into the core offer.

All those elements together helped achieve an 8-9% percent conversion rate each month. One week it was up to 25%!
